Ok, my lovelies! I’m so glad you’re with me in getting ‘it’ all together before the holidays are banging at the front door!
You’ve got this!
As a recap, we’ve loaded our calendars with all the upcoming events. Then, we acquired a small notebook to act as our brain and spent some time thinking about all the details needed for those events on the calendar.
I’d love to send you the simple PDF of this series, Simplify Your Holidays, found in my resource library with other fabulous freebies. You can access it at the bottom of this post.
Today begins the fun!
I know, I know. You really don’t want to be one of ‘those’ people. You know those, the kind that jumps the gun right over Thanksgiving. But you know what? If it saves my sanity, I’m bringing up the boxes of Christmas.
I think my sister was the first inspiration to decorate early. I remember she had Thanksgiving at her house one year and it was already decorated for Christmas. It was beautiful.
Don’t get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is my very favorite holiday. I love the premise behind truly spending a day of thanking God for all have, and who we love. And eating amazing food. And football, too. Just being together is really where the joy resides.
We are not forgetting Thanksgiving, AT ALL.
We are only freeing ourselves from extra stress and future frazzled living.
Back in my Scroogier days, all I could think about when I was decorating was that I was just going to have to take all this stuff down in a few weeks.
What? Be gentle, I’m bearing my heart to you, I know it’s not pretty. Who thinks like that? I finally realized that if those decorations were up longer, it would fight back my inner Scrooge.
Just think, wouldn’t it be nice to end Thanksgiving knowing that you were three steps ahead of Christmas preparation and already done with the decorating part? I know I would.
Someone even wrote an article about it which you can read here. Studies have shown that having Christmas decorations up early just gives us more time to connect with our inner child and good memories. It makes us happier.
I could use that too.
You officially have my permission to start today!
So, let’s decorate!
Tomorrow, watch for Step Five!
